Australians Honour ANZAC'S

INTERNATIONAL: Australians lined the streets of Capitals cities, this morning at the crack of dawn Monday 25th April, to watch thousands of past and present military personnel march in the annual Anzac Day parade. The Australian Embassy here in Cambodia also held a dawn service, after the COVID-19 pandemic curtailed commemorations in the past two years.

Anzac Day originally commemorated a bloody battle on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey during World War One. On April 25, 1915, thousands of troops from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) were among a larger Allied force that landed on the narrow beaches of the Gallipoli peninsula, in an ill-fated campaign that would claim more than 130,000 lives.

Today, Anzac Day honours all Australian and New Zealand troops from all conflicts.

Services and marches were held all over Australia and New Zealand, with services also held around the world.

The Australian Embassy held a special service this morning, with all guests receiving a poppy.

Former force Commander of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia Lieutenant General John Murray Sanderson gave an Anzac day addressing with memories of his command post here in Cambodia.

An ATATURK’S TRIBUTE from the Ambassador of Turkey Miss Ayday Unlu.

Delegate’s from Other Embassy’s laid reefs and expats laid poppies.

There were Local, Australian and New Zealand expats were in attendance. Over all it was a lovely tribute to the ANZAC soldier’s.

The ceremony commemorated the 107th anniversary of the day when thousands of soldiers struggled ashore on a narrow beach at Gallipoli during an ill-fated military campaign that claimed more than 130,000 lives.

LEST WE FORGET.
